Medias, (pronounced Med-yash) is a small town in Transylvannia, Romania that has maintained much of its medieval charm. When we first discovered we'd be moving here with my husband's job, the reaction was a mixture of apprehension and intrigue, but mostly apprehension.
It was definitely a very 'different' lifestyle from what we had grown accustomed to but the main concern for me was schooling for my then five and a half and 3 year old boys. I searched frantically for any information about this location but the results were very limited, at least in English.
So, from the time tthat we accepted the job, this move and the fact that I would be homeschooling for at least a couple of years (because there are no American, International or English language based schools of any kind in Medias) the idea of a blog was born.
This blog is a way to offer my insights into what life in this tucked away little town is like for an expat with two boys. I will try to provide and update information about hotels, cool places to visit, stores to find daily supplies, coffee shops, restaurants, fun activities, things to do -near and far, how to get a taxi and all sorts of other amazing little local discoveries.
Whether you are a tourist, moving here and frantically researching the web to find any scraps of information like I was, or simply a little curious about life here, this blog should have some useful (and hopefully interesting) information for you. Even if you are already a Medias resident you might find out a little something you did not know about this town!
So, what's this blog all about?
In a nutshell, it's all about Medias, living in Medias and homeschooling 30 minutes away from Dracula's birthplace!
